Notes Charles Oliver Murray (1842-1924) was a British illustrator and etcher. He studied at the Edinburgh School of Design and the Royal Scottish Academy Schools, winning the Keith Prize and medals for anatomical studies and drawing from the Antique. He was soon in demand as an illustrator and in 1881 was a founder-member of the Royal Society of Painter-Etchers. From 1872 to 1924 he was a frequent exhibitor at the Royal Academy, London, showing original works and etchings after popular contemporary artists.
