Notes From Volumes I-II of Friedrich Wilhelm Eduard Gerhard's 'Auserlesene Griechische Vasenbilder [Exquisite Greek Vase Paintings]' (Berlin: Georg Reimer, 1852-1858).

Friedrich Wilhelm Eduard Gerhard (1795-1867) was a German archaeologist. He was co-founder and secretary of the first international archaeological society.

Gerhard's pioneering survey 'Auserlesene Griechische Vasenbilder' was a systematic study of the iconography of Greek vases, and is one of the most important contributions to the field. The chronology he first proposed is still in use today. Gerhard's work was issued serially in at least forty-four parts over the course of eighteen years.
