Image of the Museo Pio-Clementino, one of the sculpture museums in the Vatican. Founded in 1771 by Pope Clement XIV, the Pio-Clementino originally contained Renaissance and antique works.

Carlo Antonini (b. 1740) was an Italian draughtsman, engraver, and architect who worked in Rome and Modena. Between 1781 and 1790, Antonini produced Manuale di Vari Ornamenti..., a four-volume handbook on various antique ornaments and fragments, as well as a three-volume companion publication on ornaments and components of antique vases.
