Published Published, Printed and sold by Thomas Bowles and John Bowles
Dimensions Image 313 x 244 mm, Pl. 349 x 246 mm
Notes Three-quarter length portrait of a woman standing head tilted towards right shoulder, looking towards the viewer, right hand at her waist, left hand taking a fold of her skirt, wearing a simple cap and dress with broad ribbon lacing the front, and an embroidered trim around the bodice and above the elbow.

The identity of the sitter has not been established: according to Chaloner Smith, the lady who died in 1767, which is the date Bromley gives for the person he suggests, would have been described as the Honble Mrs Anne Granville (daughter of Lord Lansdowne), and her cousin Mary, afterwards Mrs Delany, first changed her name in 1718. He adds that there is no record of a Mary Anne in that family. (British Museum).
