Notes A young woman, dressed in eastern costume, reclines against a large cushion. Upon her lap is an open book which pictures two near-naked fairies embracing. Behind, a peacock perches upon a stone balustrade, and a staircase leads down to a garden. In the distance, the sea is visible.
