Notes A man sits astride a rearing horse. From an edition of Francois Robichon de la Gueriniere's Ecole de Cavalerie. Contenant la connoissance, l'instruction, et la conservation du cheval. The work was an important French book on the training and riding of the horse, detailing equitation, veterinary treatment, dressage and general horsemanship. It has become an important text for the Spanish Riding School of Vienna.

Charles Parrocel (1688-1752) was a French painter and engraver, specialising in battle and hunting scenes.

Louis Desplaces (1682-1739) was a French printmaker, publisher and printer.

Condition: Time toning and discolouration around edges. Creasing at left.
