Notes A fine mezzotint portrait of a seated John Wilkes holding a quill. A letter on the table in front of him reads 'To the Gentlemen Clergy and Freeholders of the County of Middlesex'. Other papers are strewn across the table entitled 'The Liberty…' and 'Civis erat…' along with a scroll 'Magna Charta'. A volume of 'Sydney on Government' inscribed to 'Huy. Cotes Esqr London' rests against a classical statue and a plaque portrait of Hampden below.
