A view of Oxford High Street, with the fronts of University College, Queens College, the University Church of St Mary the Virgin, Brasenose College, and the spire of All Saints' Church, now part of Lincoln College.

William Monk (1863-1937) was a painter and etcher of architectural scenes and landscapes. He was born born in Chester and studied at Antwerp Academy. He exhibited at the RA RE and IS and the Society of Graver Printers in Colour. Elected ARE 1894 and RE 1899. He executed subjects in Venice and New York, and he founded and worked with The London Almanac for 35 years.

Condition: Vertical crease to left of centre. Minor creasing to right sheet edge.
