Notes Caroline Matilda (1751 – 1775) was the youngest child of Frederick, Prince of Wales and Princess Augusta of Saxe-Gotha. At the age of fifteen, Caroline Mathilde, as she was known in Denmark, left her family behind in Britain in order to travel to Denmark and marry her cousin, Christian VII of Denmark.
