From George Shaw's General Zoology, or, Systematic Natural History. Shaw's publication was issued in several volumes between 1800 and 1826. George Shaw (1751-1813) was a notable English zoologist and botanist. Although originally beginning his career as a medical practitioner, Shaw went on to be an assistant lecturer in botany at Oxford University, and keeper of the British Museum's natural history department. |
