Notes Inscription below portrait consists of five lines of lettering listing the sitter's titles: 'REVER:mus Pr. Alphons. Staimos ... Concionator Cleberrim.' Also a five-line dedication by Samuel van Hoogstraten: 'AEra ferunt ... tacta tuunt. Raisponae, affect:mé dedicat S. van Hoogstraten.' And lettered there: 'Jacob Sandrart sculp: et Ex.'

Portrait of Alphons Steinmoos (1595 - 1661). Steinmoos was Vicar General in Moravia and prior of St Thomas in Brno.

Jacob von Sandrart (1630 - 1708) Engraver and publisher. Born Frankfurt on the Main 1630, died Nuremberg 1708. Father of Johann Jacob and Susanna Maria von Sandrart. c.1640 apprenticed in Amsterdam. Further studies in Gdansk. In Vienna for 1 1/2 years. 1656 in Nuremberg, before that stayed in Ratisbon.
