Notes A view of Alban Hall from Whittock's 'Microcosm of Oxford' from scarce set of smaller scale wood engravings each with decorative borders. This series differs in style from Whittock's better known earlier works on Oxford and was published later in his life whilst living at 34 Richard Street, Islington, London between 1848-1860.

Nathaniel Whittock (1791-1860) was lithographer to the University of Oxford. He was born in Oxford but moved to London in 1828. His nephew, Henry Hyde, was also an engraver.
