Notes A full length portrait of Adelaide Kemble playing the character Norma in Bellini's opera of the same name. Kemble stands facing forward looking left, she holds an oak wreath in her right hand, a dagger tucked into her belt.

Adelaide Kemble (February 13, 1815-August 4, 1878) was an English opera singer. She was the daughter of the actors Charles and Theresa Kemble and the younger sister of the actress Fanny Kemble.

Richard James Lane (1800-1872) British printmaker and lithographer. He primarily made reproductive lithographs most notably after Thomas Gainsborough, of whom he was a relation of through his mother's family.
