Notes This is a reduced copy of A Perspective View of the City of Bristol which was initially engraved for 'The Complete English Traveller, or A new survey and description of England and Wales'. The book was the outcome of a general survey of England, and divided entries under the categories of General, Natural, Local, Biographical, and Miscellaneous. Entries were augmented with copious engraved plates, including up to date maps, views of cities, towns, and landmarks, as well as plates of natural history, cultural history, and atmospheric phenomena. This monumental work was published by John Cooke c. 1770, whose shop was located in the same street as Robinson and Roberts, who printed this reduced copy in 'The Lady's Magazine or the Entertaining Companion for the Fair Sex, Appropriated solely to their use and amusement' in 1772.
