Notes A bust portrait of a woman in profile, turned to the right and gazing down, framed in an oval. She is wearing a turban upon her loose curly hair, and a low cut dress fasted with a brooch, and a pearl earing.

Victor Marie Picot (1744-1802) was a French printmaker and publisher, born in Monthieres, trained in Paris and later moved to England, where he married Angelique, the daughter of Simon Francois Ravenet. He worked in London, until he returned to France around 1790.

Condition: Trimmed within plate mark, with publication line missing. Creasing and small tears to edges of sheet. Mark next to sitter's eye.
