John Wright Oakes (9 July 1820 – 8 July 1887) was an English landscape painter. While he predominantly worked in oils, Oakes did produce watercolours and etchings. Oakes regularly exhibited at the Royal Academy. Oakes was made an Associate in 1876 and an honorary Royal Scottish Academician in 1883.
