A reduced copy of Utagawa Kuniyoshi's Minakuchi: The Story of Ôiko Tôkaidô gojûsan tsui from the series Fifty-three Pairings for the Tôkaidô Road. The series series was jointly designed by Hiroshige, Kunisada, and Kuniyoshi.
Sadahiro Utagawa (fl. 1825-75) is said to have studied under Kunisada Utagawa. Later he went to Osaka. His style is typical for the 'Osaka School' of printmakers with mostly kabuki actor scenes and portraits. According to Laurance P. Roberts Sadahiro Utagawa may be identical with Hirosada Utagawa.
Condition: Binding holes to left margin.
