A simple school-map of Hong Kong and the New Territories, printed by the Hong Kong based 'Ye Olde Printerie,' and bound into Rome, Evans, and Thomas' Notes on the New Territories of Hong Kong. This pamphlet, written by the teachers of Ellis Kadoorie School for their own pupils, as well as the broader Hong Kong population, both Chinese and European, was intended to stimulate interest in the New Territories and encourage further exploration therein.
The map works as a basic guide to the notes in the pamphlet, with the borders of the territory marked in pink with the co-ordinates given from Greenwich. Villages are labelled, as are roads and railway lines. The attached notes discuss the topography of the area, its transport systems and infrastructure, industries and agriculture, and its historical and social highlights. The remaining notes outline suggested walks and excursions, as well as suggestions for work and acadmeic exercises that can be given to students.
Condition: Vertical and horizontal folds to map, as issued. Bound into folio along top left edge of map. Blue printer's inkstain to bottom right corner of map. Some wear and toning to paper covers of pamplet, and minor scuffing to spine and corners. Light foxing throughout.
