A stereoview of Oxford High Street.
Little is know about Thompson and only five views of England by Stephen Thompson are recorded by Treadwell - they are exceptionally rare. Thompson worked with a team of photographers that included William Russell Sedgfield and lead by photographer William England, on a series of 350 stereoviews of the 1862 International Exhibition.
Thomas Shrimpton was a book and print seller and publisher whose shop was at 23 & 24 Broad Street.
