A decorative painted design for a Japanese Kyoto Meiji period era oriental handheld fan. The design features a pair of herons on a tree branch, silhouetted by the moon, appearing as a cut out section of the design. A silver tinted river can be seen to the right, with the tree blossoming purple flowers.

Condition: One heron is missing a head, some smudging and scratches to right of sheet.
