View of the harbour of Hastings in Surrey. Stephen Parrish spent a month in Hastings during the autumn of 1884, and later that same year this etching was commissioned by the London magazine The Portfolio. Stephen Parrish (1846-1938) was born into an Quaker family in Philadelphia, USA. He started pursuing a career as an artist after his thirties in 1877, as a painter and etcher. Condition: Strong impression with full margins. Overall time toning, especially to outer edges of the sheet. |
