Notes A large and striking print of skulls from Gerard Sandifort's Museum Anatomicum Acadamiae Lugduno-Batavae.

Gerard Sandifort (1779 - 1848 ) was a Dutch anatomist famed for his works and teaching of dissecting for the visual arts. He was a board member and teacher of dissection for visual artists at the society 'Ars Aemula Naturae' and professor by special appointment in anatomy at the University of Leiden. He his probably best known for his continuation of his fathers work, describing the collection of anatomical specimens at Leiden University Hospital, published between 1793 and 1835 under the title 'Museum Anatomicum Lugduni Batavae' , from which this plate derives.
