Born in Germany Ulrike Rost studied at drawing school in Munich before continuing art education in England, first at York College of Art followed by a BA and MA at Leeds Beckett. Her work has been exhibited at various galleries in Germany and Yorkshire. Currently Ulrike works at Leeds City College in the Art department.
Ulrike's main practise is oil painting with the natural world as a consistent theme across her work. There is often a focus on structure, insects and flowers with signs of decay. Recently she has concentrated on large sections of leaves which lends itself well to the lino-cut process. The result is a range of simple but bold and striking prints.
