Sadanobu Hasegawa IV (1914-1999) is the fourth generation ukiyo-e artist in a tradition that started during the Edo period. The artist's subjects remain within the same themes of his father and grandfathers, mostly producing bijin or genre scenes. Within his work he adopted the traditional motifs to a more modern style to appeal to a wider audience.
