A double sheet hand coloured woodcut view featuring rowing scenes at Oxford University to the left and at Cambridge University to the right. There are eight different scenes in total: 'The Start for the Torpids Five Minutes Gone', 'The Floods out Changing the Hedges', 'Capsized the Balance of Fate', 'Now There, Your Late as usual - Tumble in' at the Oxford side and 'A View up Long Reach', 'Robinson Crusoe', 'A Bump', 'Coaching from the Bank' on the Cambridge side.
Percy Macquoid (1852-1925) was the son of Thomas Robert Macquoid (1820-1912) who was a painter and book-illustrator. Percy's early career was as a book-illustrator and theatrical designer. Later in life he became an avid collector and connoisseur of English furniture.
