Notes An allegorical representation of 'Asia'. The female figure is seen standing, full length slightly to the right. She is wearing a fringed gown, pantaloons and a plumed turban and is holding a book against her chest. In the background is a landscape with classical ruins, a river and a fortress. To the right a crocodile can be seen chasing a man in to the river.

Lennox-Boyd state i/ii later reworked.
