Henry Alken's, Sporting Sketches, was a collection of 36 hand-colored lithographs that were issued in parts between 1817-1818. However these particular prints appear to be from a different, and unrecorded, series of prints under the same title.

Henry Thomas Alken (1785 - 1851) was a British etcher, sporting painter and watercolourist. The second son of Samuel Alken, he studied with the miniature painter J.T. Barber. He is best-known for his paintings and prints of hunting, coaching and shooting scenes. His works were published by Fores and Co., Ackermann, and T. McLean.

Condition: Light surface dirt and occasional foxing spots to images and margins.
