Notes A rare lifetime impression of this Wilkie etching of a woman seated on a high-backed chair wearing a cap turns to the left with a smile. Standing on the table beside her is a child who plays with her cap.

Sir David Wilkie (18 November 1785 – 1 June 1841) was a Scottish genre painter and etcher. Born in Fife, and trained in Edinburgh, Wilkie moved to London in 1805 to attend the RA Schools. He often co-published important prints after his work.
